Nigerian music sensation, Rema, has made a staggering donation of N105 million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State.
The donation was made during a thanksgiving service at the church’s Edo Regional Headquarters.
Rema, who was invited by the state government to perform at the Edo@33 celebration, expressed his gratitude to the church for its support during a difficult period in his childhood. “I am not here to give myself any form of accolades or glory but to give to God the glory,” he said.
Rema recounted how the church, led by Pastors Joy and Thomas, helped his family after the loss of his father at the age of eight. “They opened a shop for my mum, and that was what she managed to take care of and feed us,” he said.
Rema’s donation includes N40 million for the church’s infrastructural development, N20 million for the Rhapsody of Realities publication, N25 million for the teen church, and N20 million to support widows in attendance.
Rema’s visit to Edo State was at the invitation of the state government, where he performed at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and a musical concert at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
