The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of all 21 chairmanship and 225 councillorship seats in Saturday’s local council elections.
Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Mera, Chairman of KESIEC, announced the results in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, stating that 17 political parties participated in the polls, including APC, NNPP, LP, AAC, Boot party, AP, and SDP.
Muhammad-Mera confirmed that the Commission had ratified and adopted the results as announced by the Returning Officers and electoral wards, paving the way for the APC’s sweep of all contested positions.
The KESIEC Chairman expressed delight at the peaceful and hitch-free nature of the exercise, commending security agencies and stakeholders for their support.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier boycotted the elections, alleging that the KESIEC leadership was biased towards the APC, being “card-carrying members” of the party.
