Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time top scorer in Champions League history, has dropped a hint about a possible return to the competition.
The Al Nassr striker made the admission while participating in the league phase draw on Thursday.
Ronaldo, who has scored 140 goals in the Champions League, was presented with an award for his achievement. When teased by UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin about not playing in the competition anymore, Ronaldo responded, “I play Asian [Champions] League, don’t forget that.”
Ronaldo expressed his gratitude for the award and emphasized his love for the Champions League, saying, “It’s the highest in football… the pleasure to play that competition. It’s our motivation.”
While Ronaldo didn’t make any concrete promises, he left the door open for a potential return to the Champions League, saying, “In football, you never know what’s going to happen. Let’s see what the future brings.”
