A devastating incident has occurred in the Kémta area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, as 32-year-old Olúwaṣeun Shorinola took his own life.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the tragic event to our correspondent via electronic message on Thursday.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the deceased’s wife discovered his body hanging from a wall at around 10 pm on Wednesday. Odutola stated, “A team of policemen was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Shorinola was found dead, with his body hanging against the wall, which shows that the man committed suicide.”
The family has opted to bury the body without an autopsy, and the police are monitoring the situation. This incident marks the third reported case of suicide in Ogun State this year, following the deaths of Opeyemi Lateef and Gift Bello in April 2024.
The community is in shock, and the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support.
