The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed confidence in his party’s ability to recapture Edo State in the forthcoming governorship election on September 21, 2024.
Ganduje stated, “Edo, which is coming on the 21st of September, I believe our campaign is in high spirits. We are getting ready for that election, and we believe we will be able to recover our state.”
The APC chairman attributed the party’s previous loss in Edo to internal wranglings but expressed optimism in reclaiming the state.
Ganduje also highlighted the party’s plans to expand its footprint in the Southeast geopolitical zone, particularly in Anambra State, where the APC aims to introduce a new political phenomenon to capture more states.
He emphasized the importance of internal democracy, stating, “Our political party—APC, as an institution—wants to be active throughout the year… We always encourage internal democracy so that we reduce tension and factions within the party.”
Ganduje’s vision for the APC includes strengthening the party’s structure, promoting internal democracy, and fostering a close relationship between party officials and those in office.
