President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a landmark visit to the People’s Republic of China in early September, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two nations.
The visit aims to strengthen economic ties, attract investments, and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
During a briefing at the State House in Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, highlighted the importance of the visit. Ngelale stated that President Tinubu will visit major Chinese companies, including Huawei and the China Rail and Construction Corporation, to accelerate the completion of the Ibadan-Abuja segment of the Lagos-Kano rail project.
President Tinubu will also meet with CEOs of 10 top Chinese corporations, managing over $3 trillion in assets across various sectors. Ngelale said, “His Excellency, Mr. President, will meet 10 selected chief executive officers of 10 major Chinese corporations with assets under management totaling over $3 trillion US dollars.”
The visit will culminate in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding with Chinese President Xi Jinping, targeting crucial sectors such as the green economy, agriculture, satellite technology, and national planning collaboration.
The meeting between the two presidents will also provide an opportunity to discuss broader issues of mutual interest, including economic partnerships, security, and global challenges. Ngelale stated that the agreements will offer a framework for cooperation in various fields, further solidifying the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China.
