Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied any involvement in the donation of N1 billion to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Lagos by his brother, Deji Adeleke.
In a statement, Governor Adeleke emphasized that the donation was a private philanthropic gesture by his brother.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State had criticized the donation, accusing Governor Adeleke of prioritizing personal interests over the state’s needs. However, Governor Adeleke clarified that he did not donate the funds and that the state treasury was not involved.
Governor Adeleke highlighted his brother’s history of philanthropy, including donations to the state government during the COVID-19 crisis and to the Federal Government. He emphasized that the donation to the church was made by his brother, who has the capacity to do so.
Governor Adeleke also accused the APC of attempting to play the religious card, which he believes has fallen flat. He pointed out that the Muslim community in Osun State has benefited more from his administration than under the previous APC government.
Governor Adeleke urged the public to disregard the misinformation spread by the APC, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on delivering quality governance to the people of Osun State.
