The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualist, Muhammad Adekunle, and four others for allegedly killing and selling human parts in Ibadan.
Adekunle, 40, was said to have conspired with three accomplices to kill people for money rituals. He allegedly lured Adekola Sodiq to Moniya, where they severed his head and legs, which were sold to Obaleye Sanmi and Ismail Olalekan.
Adekunle confessed to stabbing Malik Kareem to death and selling his head and legs to Rashidat Akanji for N70,000. A fresh flesh was recovered from his premises, which he confessed was part of Kareem’s body.
Muniru Salawudeen, Rashidat Akanji, Ismail Olalekan, and Obaleye Sanmi were arrested for buying human parts from Adekunle. They confessed to purchasing different types of human parts for money rituals.
Muyideen Raimi was arrested for exhuming and cutting off the head of his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, for a money ritual. He confessed to the crime and mentioned an accomplice, Sumaila, aka Baba Ibeji, who is now at large.
The police commissioner, Ayodele Sonubi, said the investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated.
