The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members to conduct themselves peacefully during the upcoming primary elections.
In a statement signed by the state chairman, Sunday Bisi, the party urged aspirants and their supporters to cooperate with electoral officers and security operatives.
The primary elections for councillor positions will hold on Saturday, August 17, across 332 wards, while the chairmanship primary election will take place on Monday, August 19, in all 30 local government headquarters.
Bisi warned that the party will not tolerate any act of violence during or after the primaries, stating that aspirants found wanting will be disqualified.
The party has put measures in place to ensure a smooth exercise, in line with the directive of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The party expressed confidence that the exercise will produce the best candidates and ensure victory in the coming local government election.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has set February 22, 2025, for local government elections in the state.
