The Lagos State Government has announced a two-day traffic diversion at the Ikeja Along Bus Stop on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to facilitate the safe demolition of the old pedestrian bridge.
The diversion will take place on Saturday, August 17, and Sunday, August 18, from 12 midnight to 4 am daily.
According to the state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the diversion will only affect motorists on the Oshodi-bound lane, with one lane available from Ile Zik Bus Stop to Conoil Filling Station. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will manage vehicular movement to minimize inconveniences.
Osiyemi assured that the lanes will be cordoned off with jersey barriers and protective nets to ensure the safety of motorists and commuters during the demolition. He advised motorists to be patient, as the closure is part of the traffic management plans for the removal of the old pedestrian bridge.
Motorists on the Dopemu/Abule Egba bound side of the road will not be affected during the demolition. The state government has urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the diversion.
