A devastating fire outbreak occurred in the early hours of Friday at a 7-storey building on Sanni Adewale Street, Lagos Island Local Government Area.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service promptly responded to the distress call, arriving at the scene within 16 minutes.
According to the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, firefighters from Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations responded swiftly, bringing the situation under control. Ventilation efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of all in the area.
Adeseye confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical surge. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, thanks to the swift actions of the Lagos State Firefighters.
The fire affected several shops within the 7-storey building, with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service receiving the distress call at 05:17 hours. The prompt response and expertise of the firefighters prevented the situation from escalating further.
