A devastating road accident occurred on Tuesday along the Malo Ogere stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, claiming the lives of 12 people.
The lone crash involved a white Mazda bus with registration number DDA733XA, which burst into flames after losing control.
According to Florence Okpe, Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, the rescue operation was carried out by a team from FRSC Ogere Unit Command. Okpe revealed that the crash involved 16 persons, comprising 12 male adults, three female adults, and one female child.
Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to wrongful overtaking by the bus driver, which led to loss of control and the bus hitting the road divider. The vehicle fell and was immediately engulfed in flames, resulting in the death of 12 people.
Four male passengers who survived the crash were rescued and taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, for treatment. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution while driving.
