A terrifying incident unfolded in London’s Leicester Square when a man stabbed an 11-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother, leaving them hospitalized.
However, thanks to the bravery of a heroic bystander, Abdullah, the attacker was apprehended, and the situation was brought under control.
Abdullah, who works at the TWG Tea shop, recounted the events: “I heard a scream and saw a person in his early to mid-30s stabbing a kid. I jumped on him, held the hand with the knife, and put him down on the floor.” He was joined by others, and together they held the attacker until the police arrived.
The police praised the courage of those who intervened, saying, “We don’t believe there are any outstanding suspects.” Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah commended the public’s bravery, saying, “They put themselves at risk and showed the best of London in doing so.”
The victims, a mother and daughter, are receiving treatment, with the girl’s injuries reported as non-life-threatening. The suspect, a 32-year-old man, is in custody, and the police have ruled out any terror-related motives.
Witnesses described the harrowing scene, with one, Desmond, saying, “It was so terrible, I’ve never seen a thing like that.” The London Ambulance Service confirmed that they treated the victims at the scene and transported them to a major trauma center.
The incident has left the community shaken, but the heroic actions of Abdullah and others have been hailed as a testament to the city’s resilience.
