The All Progressives Congress (APC) has initiated consultations with the Senate leadership to reinstate Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip.
This development comes after Ndume apologized to the party for his public criticisms of President Bola Tinubu and the APC.
The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, confirmed that Ndume’s apology was accepted, describing the situation as a “family affair.” The party is now writing to the National Assembly to convey the developments and request a review of Ndume’s removal.
A source at the party secretariat revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Senate leadership to reinstate Ndume. The Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi Duru, confirmed the consultations, stating that the onus is on the Senate leadership to decide on the matter.
The National Publicity Director of the APC, Bala Ibrahim, noted that the move to reinstate Ndume is not unusual, as the executive and legislative arms can reshuffle and reassign portfolios as they deem fit. He expressed confidence that the necessary consultations will be made to ensure a smooth reinstatement process.
