American rapper and record executive, Rick Ross, is embroiled in a legal battle over allegations of discrimination against disabled attendees at his popular Car & Bike Show.
Darris Straughter, a disabled man, has sued Ross for failing to make the event wheelchair accessible, despite prior notification of his needs.
According to the lawsuit, Straughter purchased a ticket and made travel arrangements, but was unable to attend the event at Ross’ estate in Fayetteville, Georgia, due to lack of accessibility. Despite promises of refunds for those unable to enter, Straughter claims he received no follow-up or compensation.
The lawsuit, filed by attorney John Hoover Esq., accuses Ross of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Straughter seeks damages and a court order mandating that future events provide proper disabled access.
The incident highlights the importance of inclusivity and accessibility at public events. As the case unfolds, it may set a precedent for event organizers to prioritize accessibility and accommodate disabled attendees.
