US rapper Travis Scott has been released from custody in Paris after 36 hours of detention, according to his representative and the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Scott was arrested on Friday for alleged violence against a security guard at the Georges V hotel, but was released due to insufficient evidence.
The 33-year-old Grammy-nominated artist was seen attending the Olympics men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday evening before the altercation occurred. His representative stated that management was in direct communication with Parisian authorities to resolve the issue swiftly.
Scott has had previous legal encounters in the US, including an arrest in Miami Beach for trespassing and disorderly intoxication, and a crowd crush incident at his concert in Houston that resulted in ten fatalities. Despite these incidents, Scott remains a successful songwriter and producer, with a Grammy-nominated album and merchandising deals with major brands. He has two children with social media influencer Kylie Jenner.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed Scott’s release and the dismissal of the case due to lack of evidence. His representative also stated that Scott has been released without charges.
