The Nigerian Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM), Northern chapter, has vowed to embark on an indefinite protest in Kano State once the curfew is lifted.
The group’s secretary, Comrade Anas Adamu, made this known in a telephone interview, citing the government’s failure to address their demands ten days after the nationwide protests began.
Adamu expressed dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s recent broadcast, describing it as an “empty speech” that did not address their minimum demands. He emphasized that the group would resume protests, which would be indefinite, until their demands are met.
The NPFM has commenced mobilizing its members ahead of the curfew lift, ensuring effective participation in the protest. Adamu reiterated the group’s support for peaceful protests, calling for the release of arrested protesters and emphasizing that violence and destruction were not their objectives.
He also questioned the rationale behind arresting protesters who flew Russian flags, stating that the group would soon issue a statement on the matter. The NPFM’s stance comes as the government grapples with addressing the demands of various groups participating in the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
