A national prayer session scheduled for Saturday in Kano State has been canceled due to security concerns and intelligence reports of potential threats.
The event, aimed at fostering peace and stability in the nation, was planned to take place at Isyaka Rabi’u’s Mosque in Goron Dutse, Kano.
Mubarak Ibrahim Lawan, Coordinator of the National Prayer, announced the cancellation on Friday, citing reports from the Kano State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services. According to Lawan, “evil forces” planned to infiltrate the gathering, inciting youths to engage in looting and disturbances.
“We have been informed that some miscreants have been prepared to penetrate the law-abiding worshippers and exploit the gathering for their advantage,” Lawan said. “Therefore, we cancel the massive gathering today, Friday, August 9th, to avert potential chaotic mayhem in the state.”
Lawan urged the public to continue praying from their local mosques, emphasizing that “Allah hears us wherever we are.” He also warned against unfamiliar individuals carrying suspicious objects and encouraged collective prayers for the betterment of the nation.
