Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed disappointment over President Bola Tinubu’s recent nationwide broadcast, stating that it did not reflect the reality on the ground and failed to show empathy for the youth.
Speaking to journalists after an emergency security council meeting, Governor Mohammed said, “The President’s speech was very empty and has escalated the situation. He should have consulted with state governors, who are his first line of charge, to understand the situation on the ground.”
The governor’s comments come as the state government declared a 24-hour curfew in Katagum LGA following the escalation of crisis in Azare, where hoodlums vandalized government properties and looted shops.
Governor Mohammed assured citizens that his administration will not allow the ongoing protest to escalate and urged them to remain law-abiding and exercise restraint to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the state.
He acknowledged that the peaceful protest is a clear demonstration of the failure of government at all levels to discharge their constitutional and statutory responsibilities.
