Hoodlums took advantage of the ongoing nationwide protests to loot two churches in Katsina State, making off with millions of naira worth of equipment.
At the Living Faith Church in Daura Local Government Area, the thieves stole 205 chairs, musical instruments, and other valuables, leaving the church unable to hold services. Pastor David Sarki described the incident, saying, “They took everything inside the church auditorium… We have informed the police and the army, and the police told us yesterday that they have made some arrests.”
The Pastor condemned the attack, saying, “It is not food that we store in the house of God; it is a place of worship. Why is it only a church? The government should come to the reality that they are serving humanity, and God will judge us all.”
Similarly, the Power of Resurrection church in Katsina town was vandalized, with hoodlums unable to gain access due to iron protectors on the gate. Pastor Nelson Onyekachuku called on the government to address the issues driving the protests and ensure the protection of churches.
The incidents have led to a heavy security presence in churches across the state, with no official statement yet from the State Police Public Relations Officer.
