The Nigeria Police Force has been accused of harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, as the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest enters its third day.
Activist politician, Omoyele Sowore, took to social media to allege that police and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) were attacking activists at the stadium. “BREAKING: @PoliceNG arrive scene of Abuja #EndBadGovernaceInNigerianow to attack activists, @OfficialDSSNG on their way too with govt sponsored thugs to do the same thing,” Sowore wrote.
Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, corroborated Sowore’s claims, stating, “The police are currently harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.”
The nationwide protest, which began on Thursday, has seen Nigerians express their displeasure over the country’s hardship and suffering. Reports of police brutality and manhandling of protesters have emerged, with some fatalities recorded across the country.
