The Southwest Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a passionate appeal to Nigerians to eschew violence and maintain peace in the region.
At an emergency meeting in Akure, Ondo State, the party leaders urged citizens to refrain from turning the Southwest into a “theatre of war” or center of criminality through violent protests.
In a communiqué signed by National Vice Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, and Zonal Secretary, Vincent Bewaji, the party acknowledged the constitutional right to peaceful protest but pleaded for patience amidst the current hardship. They assured that the “temporary hardships and pains” would soon give way to a “meaningful livelihood for all Nigerians.”
The APC leaders commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for taking “giant and monumental steps” to reposition Nigeria for prosperity and abundance. They urged South Westerners, both at home and abroad, to remain calm and supportive of the government’s efforts.
The party’s appeal comes as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic challenges, and the APC Southwest leaders are keen to ensure that the region remains peaceful and stable. By urging citizens to exercise patience and restraint, they hope to prevent the escalation of tensions and promote a sense of national unity.
