Popular Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has broken her silence amidst calls for the ban of her yet-to-be-released film, Blood Brothers.
The movie’s poster, which features Isime wearing a niqab while holding a gun, sparked outrage among Muslim faithful on social media.
In a series of cryptic posts on her Instagram page, Isime emphasized her focus on peace and personal goals, seemingly addressing the controversy without directly mentioning it. She wrote, “Really out of the way. In my own world. No drama or gossip. Just goals and money. Peace is where I’m at.”
Isime also shared words of wisdom, stating, “Your light often highlights other people’s insecurities & shortcomings, which they will then project back to you as a flaw.” She added, “Attacking you makes them feel safer.”
The actress concluded by affirming her confidence and resilience, saying, “Isime baby, omo ologo 5g. The brightest light. The city on a hill that can never be hidden. Nancy Isime. Big name with big force. Getting talked about does not faze me. Look at the people who are talking.”
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) had called for the ban of the film, citing Isime’s portrayal of a Muslim woman in a negative light. However, Isime’s response suggests she remains unfazed by the controversy.
