President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a crucial meeting with APC Governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amidst rising calls for nationwide protests against economic hardship.
The meeting, which commenced at 1:01 pm, brings together Governors under the Progressives Governors Forum. Although the agenda remains undisclosed, it may be linked to the planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protests scheduled for August 1-10.
The protests, organized under the hashtag ‘EndBadGovernance,’ have gained significant traction on social media, despite the organizers remaining anonymous. No group has officially claimed responsibility for the protests.
This meeting follows a previous gathering of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum on Wednesday night and comes after the last-minute cancellation of the National Economic Council meeting earlier scheduled for noon Thursday.
Notable attendees include National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Ministers of Finance and Budget & Economic Planning, Wale Edun and Abubakar Bagudu, respectively. The meeting’s outcome may shed light on the government’s strategy to address the growing economic concerns and protests.
