In a recent podcast interview, Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy revealed his clever tactic to avoid musical collisions with industry giants Wizkid and Asake.
Don Jazzy confessed that releasing music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake would be “suicidal” for his artistes. To avoid this, Mavin Records has switched from traditional Friday releases to Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Don Jazzy explained, “If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
Mavin Records’ talented roster includes Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy.
By avoiding release date clashes, Don Jazzy ensures his artistes receive maximum attention and visibility in the crowded music scene. Will this strategy pay off for Mavin Records? Only time will tell.
