The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Sulaiman Jimoh, alias Temo, the leader of the Mushin, Lagos drug cartel. Temo, 57, was apprehended at his hideout after resisting arrest with his men.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated that Temo had been evading arrest for years, with several encounters resulting in gunfights. The agency had previously seized drugs worth billions of naira from Temo, including 14,524.8 kilograms of Ghana Loud and 8,852kg of the same substance.
Temo was tracked to Igbarere Street in Mushin and pinned down on July 22. A reinforcement of 50 operatives was mobilized, and he was overpowered and whisked away after attempting to escape and mobilize hoodlums to engage the operatives.
The NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), commended the officers and men involved in Temo’s arrest, urging them to intensify the heat on all drug cartels.
Temo’s operations involved smuggling large consignments of illicit drugs into Lagos from Ghana. His arrest is a significant blow to the drug cartel and a major achievement for the NDLEA.
