US Vice President Kamala Harris has pledged to overturn the abortion ban and restore reproductive rights, stating, “We trust women to make decisions about their own bodies, not have their government tell them what to do.”
Harris made this promise at her first presidential campaign rally in Wisconsin, emphasizing that reproductive rights will be a key issue in the election season.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump has stated that abortion limits should be left to individual states, outlining his position in a video.
Harris also outlined her policy commitments, including addressing gun violence, supporting workers’ rights, and ensuring affordable healthcare and childcare.
Trump has described Harris as “far more radical” than President Joe Biden and believes she would be “easier” to beat in the November election.
Trump has agreed to participate in at least one presidential debate with Harris, stating, “I want to. I think it’s important.”
Harris has effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, securing enough delegates in just 36 hours.
Top Democratic leaders and Hollywood star George Clooney have thrown their weight behind Harris’ campaign.
President Joe Biden’s surprise exit from the race has triggered a significant election upheaval, with Biden set to deliver a primetime speech on Wednesday about “what lies ahead.”
