Tragedy struck at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, as suspected robbers allegedly raped at least two first-year female students on Monday.
Around 12:30 am, the suspects invaded the students’ apartments, forcing them to surrender their belongings. A source revealed that the robbers, armed with guns, led the students to an uncompleted building where they took turns raping them.
The State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating, “Efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing. Our operatives combed the area, and efforts are in top gear to arrest everyone involved.”
The survivors have been taken to the school clinic for treatment. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of students on campus.
Odutola assured that the police are working tirelessly to ensure the perpetrators face justice. “The incident was reported at the Igbeba Police Division at about 10:00 am. We will leave no stone unturned in investigating this heinous crime.”
