The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended the mastermind behind the gruesome murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere, the National Chairman of Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Hashiru Baku, the culprit, was arrested in Kano State while attempting to flee the country.
The police had earlier arrested and paraded four suspects – Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu – in connection with the crime on June 24, 2024.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, addressed journalists on Monday, revealing that Baku was the organizer of the heinous crime. “We have recovered the general’s gun, wristwatch, and his wife’s jewelry stolen from their residence. The organizer, Hashiru Baku, is in our custody. He was arrested in Kano while trying to exit the country.”
“The suspect, Hashiru Baku, was in prison but escaped during the Kuje Correctional Centre attack. Instead of repenting, he continued his criminal activities with more audacity. We recovered drugs in his residence, which they use to get high and continue their nefarious activities.”
