Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has dismissed the Presidency’s claim that Peter Obi is behind the planned August protest against bad governance.
Sowore described the accusation as “drivel from a sinking regime” and maintained that the protest is a grassroots initiative by Nigerians.
The Presidency had alleged that Obi’s supporters, still bitter about his election loss, were organizing the protest. However, Sowore insisted that the protest is a response to the widespread discontent with the ruling class’s deceit, corruption, and incompetence. He stated, “Nigerians are tired… and have opted to act from all locations at once.”
Sowore’s response came after Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, accused Obi of being behind the planned protest. Sowore’s defiant stance suggests that the protest will go ahead as planned, despite the Presidency’s attempts to link it to Obi.
