A devastating flood has struck Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, sweeping away four persons, including a mother and child.
The downpour, which lasted from Thursday to Saturday, caused widespread destruction and panic in the industrial community.
According to sources, the incident occurred at different locations in the town, with two persons swept away in Nnewichi, one along Nnobi Road, and another along Nnewi-Onitsha Road. Family members of the victims have launched a desperate search for their loved ones, who remain missing since Thursday.
The President-General of Nzuko-Ora (Nnewi Town Union), Dr Madu Atueny, confirmed hearing about the incident but is yet to verify it. The state police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has promised to launch an investigation into the development.
The flood has caused widespread destruction in the area, leaving many residents in a state of panic. The search for the missing victims continues, with hopes of finding them alive.
