The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped a spot in the latest FIFA world rankings, released on Thursday.
The team is now ranked 39th in the world, down from their previous position in June.
Despite the slip, the Super Eagles remain the 5th best team in Africa, with Morocco leading the continent at number 14 in the world. Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast follow closely behind Nigeria in the African rankings.
Globally, Argentina retains its top spot, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil in the top 5. Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy complete the top 10.
The next 10 spots are occupied by Uruguay, Croatia, Germany, Morocco, Switzerland, USA, Mexico, Japan, Senegal, and Iran, in that order.
The latest rankings come as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming matches, with fans hoping for an improvement in their team’s performance.
