The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded the Federal High Court’s judgment confirming Dr. Asue Ighodalo as its legitimate candidate for the Edo State governorship election.
The court’s decision upholds the party’s primary election held on February 22 in Benin City.
In a statement, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, hailed the judgment as a victory for democracy, rule of law, and internal democracy. “The spontaneous jubilation across Edo State reaffirms Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the undisputed preference of the majority of the people,” he said.
The party congratulated Ighodalo and urged unity among members to ensure victory in the September 21 election. The judgment dismissed a lawsuit challenging Ighodalo’s nomination, validating the primary election and PDP’s internal democracy.
The court’s decision is a significant boost for Ighodalo’s candidacy, and the PDP is confident of victory in the upcoming election. With this legal victory, the party is poised to unite and work towards a successful outing on September 21.
