In a dramatic turn of events, Nigerian police operatives have apprehended Linus Williams, aka BLord, a prominent cryptocurrency billionaire, in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, BLord’s arrest follows complaints lodged against his companies, including Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology.
Adejobi revealed that the allegations against BLord include cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks. He assured that the police will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the country’s cyberspace is safe and secure.
“The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating the complaints, and we will do due diligence in our investigation,” Adejobi stated. “We are committed to achieving a safe and secure cyberspace by all means.”
The police spokesperson denied that the arrest was prompted by a petition from Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan. The investigation is ongoing, and the public awaits the outcome.
