Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Refinery, has announced that the refinery is set to commence the rollout of petrol in August 2024, following the resolution of crude oil supply issues.
Speaking during a guided tour of the refinery at the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, Dangote expressed appreciation for the intervention of the federal government and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in resolving the crude supply challenge.
“We are grateful for the support of the federal government and NNPCL in resolving our crude supply issues. We are now set to roll out petrol in August and resume fertiliser production in two weeks,” Dangote said.
The fertiliser unit of the refinery had been facing challenges, but Dangote assured that production would resume soon, meeting the massive demand from Nigerian and African farmers.
Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at DIL, had earlier lamented attempts by international oil companies (IOCs) to frustrate efforts to purchase crude for the refinery, but Dangote’s announcement signals a positive turn for the refinery’s operations.I’m
