Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has vehemently refuted allegations of financial impropriety leveled against him by the current administration.
Through his former commissioners, El-Rufai described the accusations as baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.
The commissioners, who served under El-Rufai from 2015 to 2023, argued that the financial report released by the Kaduna State House of Assembly is fundamentally flawed, lacking concrete evidence and relying on arbitrary figures. They challenged the current administration to provide substantive proof of wrongdoing, dismissing the report as “voodoo accounting.”
The commissioners stated, “The Report does not show how they arrived at this figure, and how they decided that money had been siphoned, how it was done, from which accounts and to where. They just decreed a figure and declared it!”
They also condemned the use of a “focal blood brother” in writing the report, citing conflict of interests and unethical conduct. The commissioners questioned the silence on the CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme, urging the government to investigate the beneficiaries and application of funds.
The former commissioners dismissed the report as a “hatchet job” and “premeditated assault” on their reputations, vowing to defend their legacy and reputation.
