Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has sparked a debate in the football world by naming Arsenal’s William Saliba as the best centre-back in the world.
Ferdinand made this assertion on his Vibe with Five show, dismissing suggestions that Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez is better.
Ferdinand’s co-presenter, Stephen Howson, had suggested Martinez was at a higher level than Saliba, but Ferdinand disagreed, calling it bias. “No man, come on. That’s bias, that’s bias,” Ferdinand said. He believes Saliba’s quality is unmatched, saying, “If you ask any centre forward who’s better, I don’t think many will say Martinez over Saliba.”
Ferdinand went further, stating that Saliba is the best centre-half in the world right now. “I think if you were going to pick the best centre-half in the world right now, you’d go with William Saliba,” he declared. This endorsement from a legend like Ferdinand has sparked excitement among Arsenal fans and debate among football enthusiasts.
