The Labour Party has made a historic comeback, winning the UK general election and securing a majority in the House of Commons.
With 410 seats, the party has surpassed the 326-seat threshold, marking a significant victory for Labour leader Keir Starmer.
Starmer addressed supporters at a dawn rally in London, saying, “A mandate like this comes with a great responsibility.” He pledged to start a period of “national renewal” in the UK, vowing to “begin the work of change, the mission of national renewal and start to rebuild our country.”
The Conservative Party, led by Rishi Sunak, has conceded defeat, with Sunak calling Starmer to offer congratulations. The party is expected to secure 144 seats.
This landslide win marks a significant shift in the UK’s political landscape, with Labour poised to form a new government. Starmer’s victory speech echoed hopes for a brighter future, promising to rebuild the country and usher in a new era of change.
