American rapper Cardi B has been dragged to court by two singers from Texas and Oklahoma, Miguel Aguilar (Kemika 1956) and Joshua Fraustro (Sten Joddi), for allegedly using their song without permission.
According to lawsuit documents obtained by TMZ, the plaintiffs claim that Cardi B and her producers lifted elements from their 2021 song “Greasy Frybread” for her hit track “Enough (Miami)”. The song was released on March 15, 2024, three years after “Greasy Frybread”.
The plaintiffs allege that their song was featured as a promotional piece for the FX series “Reservation Dogs” and that Cardi B’s use of their work without permission constitutes copyright infringement.
Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, and producers OG Parker and DJ SwanQo are also named as co-defendants in the lawsuit.
Cardi B’s “Enough (Miami)” was a commercial success, reaching the top 10 hits in March. However, the rapper and her team are now facing legal action over the alleged copyright infringement.
The lawsuit seeks damages and a court order to stop Cardi B and her team from further using the allegedly infringing material.
