Kogi State has recorded only two confirmed cases of cholera, with one discharged and the other receiving treatment, according to the State Commissioner for Health, Abdullazeez Adam.
Adam attributed the low number of cases to the state’s preparedness and measures taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
Similarly, Niger State has reported no confirmed cases of cholera, with the Director of Public Health, Dr. Idris Ibrahim, attributing this to the state’s proactive measures, including surveillance and sensitization.
In Nasarawa State, 29 suspected cases of cholera have been recorded in two local government areas, with one mortality. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, said the cases are still suspected and undergoing medical checks.
All three states have taken measures to prevent the spread of cholera, including sensitization, surveillance, and deployment of disease surveillance officers. The states are also working with partners like WHO and UNICEF to respond to any emergency cases.
The commissioners emphasized the importance of good hygiene, proper sanitation, and seeking medical attention immediately if symptoms occur. They also urged the public to report any suspected cases of cholera to the appropriate authorities.
