Manchester United has launched its new home kit for the upcoming season, featuring a striking design that pays homage to the club’s rich history.
The iconic red shirt now boasts a gradient effect, complemented by white trim and white shorts.
According to Adidas, the kit’s designer, the inspiration comes from a unique “fluorescent” concept introduced during the Busby Babes era, designed to help players spot each other under floodlights. The new design features a bold combination of red hues blended to form a light to dark red gradient, creating an ever-changing colour effect.
The kit also features a distinctive flame-like red insert along the side panel of both the jersey and shorts, creating a connecting line that stands out against the stadium backdrop as players move.
This new design marks the beginning of a new sponsorship era for the Red Devils, with Snapdragon taking over as the main shirt sponsor in a lucrative £60million deal.
Fans can now purchase the home kit, with adult shirts starting at £80.
As Adidas explained, “The rayon style fabric appeared to be a different shade of red, depending on how light reflected off it under the stadium’s floodlights.”
The kit introduces “a colour expression never seen before on a Manchester United home kit,” honouring the club’s commitment to innovation and its storied past.
