France have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Euro 2024 championship after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Belgium on Monday.
The only goal of the match, which was an own goal by Jan Vertonghen, was scored in the 85th minute of the game.
The victory over Belgium means France has reached at least the quarter-finals in six of the last seven major tournaments. They have won all five of their matches against Belgium at major tournaments.
The French team, which has won only one of their last 15 Euro matches, will face the winner of the match between Portugal and Slovenia in the quarter-finals in Hamburg on Friday.
Coach Didier Deschamps made two changes to the team that faced Poland in their last Group C match, with Antoine Griezmann and Marcus Thuram replacing Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele respectively.
