193 Almajiri Children Test Positive For COVID-19 In Kano
A total of 192 Almajiri children in the state of Kano have tested positive for Coronavirus.
The state’s commissioner for education, Muhammad Kiru, announced this at the Government House on Thursday during the COVID-19 briefing.
He stated that part of Almajiris returned from other states that tested positive.
The commissioner added that the state received a total of 244 children from Almajiri, and repatriated 1,183 children to other states.
“After we started repatriating Almajiri, we repatriated 1,183 successfully and got 244.
“We fed them, gave them the requisite healthcare, and checked them where we found 192 positive and isolated them.”
The commissioner further announced that all the Almajiri schools in Kano were closed pending the opening of the country’s schools.
